Tucson Street Fair - See you there!

Old Bisbee has finally had it's big winter storm, we woke up on the first day of spring to a whopping 3 inches of snow! This is one of the unexpected pleasures of living on one of Arizona's "Sky Islands" at almost 6000 feet.

New green beans arrived in the shop Friday, so I've had a weekend to appreciate the new season we are moving into. Central American coffees are beginning to arrive. New this week is the Casa Ruez from Panama, as well as a fine smooth Nicaraguan Organic Mancotal.

I may be roasting the last Kenya of the year, unless we find a late season offering, while this years first Ethiopian Harar has been very bold, sweet and fruity.

Our newest Sumatra is quite "musky" - the unmistakable trademark of the traditional drying process so well known by Sumatra fans.

******************************WE ARE ROASTING TWO DECAF COFFEES!Another first in the shop: You may now order your choice of Decaf coffees. I have this years first delivery of our Ethiopian Harar Decaf, as well as the delicious new Tanzania Peaberry. Both coffees have the amazing quality you expect from Old Bisbee Roasters. ******************************

THIS WEEKS NEW COFFEES Received 3/17/2006

Panama Boquete from Casa Ruez The return of an old favorite! After two years, Casa Ruez has delivered a coffee with snap almost Costa Rican, mild, sweet and almost citrus like in body. Roasted to develop the flavor of this great coffee, you will notice this is not the heavy Panama of past years, this coffee is subtle and complex.

Nicaragua Organic Mancotal
Delicious medium body and complex syrup flavors, slightly earthy and slightly sandy and just a touch dry. A wonderful complex coffee that has an easy going air of class and sophistication. This coffee is another example of the amazing complex coffees delivered from Central America this year.
Peruvian Cajamarca Estate - Grower Certified OrganicA slightly stronger delivery, Medium in both body and roast with a bit more bite. Peruvian coffees are the smoothest, "easy drinking" specialty coffees, well known and loved for consistent smooth body and fruity highlights.

Sumatra Blue Mandheling - Grower Certified Organic
A wonderful Sumatra, I taste a very satisfying balance between the earthy Sumatra coffee and the classic process of drying. This has created a coffee which is satisfyingly earthy and full bodied, while well rounded, this offering is less sweet, more heavily "musk".

Ethiopian Horse Harar Unmistakable, a coffee we look forward to every year with great anticipation! The famous "Horse Harar" coffee is exceptionally sweet and fruity, with a pronounced syrup finish as you would expect from a truly great African coffee. This is roasting up very exotic and heady. A wild coffee, this is not a consistent European finish, or "prep"green coffee. I feel this is a "golden year" for Harar.

Timor Peaberry - Grower Certified Organic
Here's something new, a pea berry from East Timor! Smokey and clean Indonesian coffee, this spicy little pea has the distinct flavor of "smoked Vanilla beans" This is a very unusual and exciting new coffee in the shop!

Papua New Guinea Kimel X By far and away my favorite example of a modern processed Indonesian coffee. Of the three Indonesian beans in the shop, you will find the Kimel sweet, black, simple and shockingly Indonesian. A wonderful bright yet earthy coffee with no bitterness.

Tucson's famous 4th Ave. Street Fair is the end of this week, if you are in town, be sure and stop by for a visit and a smile. I share a table on the west side of the street with the Cabat Studio, across from the Casbah Tea House on 4th Ave. Have a great week and enjoy the longer, warmer days of sprintime!
