Seth's News - August Coffees Arrive!

Our new coffee club, The Roasters Dozen is gaining popularity among the website crowd. You pick the delivery schedule and I'll pick the coffees - and every 13th pound is shipped absolutely free!

Tuesday's arrival of green beans delivered more of the most popular summer coffees. Tuesday's truckload delivered three hundred pounds of each of the following coffees, "just in time". (Wednesday I'm sure we would have been removing these from the website while waiting for delivery!)

I'm thrilled with our new choice of Guatemala Antigua, the medium body and floral highlights of this coffee make it a great replacement for the Huehuetanango coffees that had seemed to loose just a bit of the "sharp edge" I look for in the summer Central American coffees.

New to the floor this month is the Salvador Certified Organic from the Pipple Co-Operative. A wonderful clean, smooth coffee with the distinctive taste of earthy black pepper that I love in Salvador coffees. Three hundred pounds should last us a month or more.

The last two bags of Ethiopian Sidamo that I can get from my favorite grower are now here in the shop ready to roast. This coffee is sweet and oh-so-smooth. My guess is that no other coffee this year will come close to being this delicate and delightful.

Another two bags of Monte Cresol from Costa Rica has been delivered, and I understand there's no shortage of this great Costa as in years past. This coffee packs a snap in the first sip that holds nothing back, and finishes so clean you'd think it was spring water. (well, almost!)

In addition to these great summer-season beans, we also have a fresh bag of a fine quality Brazilian Santos from the Mogiana Co-Operative, and a new bag of Sumatra Organic Mandheling (also co-op grown).

Coffees in Short Supply: We have all been enjoying the Zimbabwe AA from the Dandoni Estate, a rich zesty African coffee with a great prep that takes a beautiful roast and delivers a thick sweet cup. Sadly there's a precious handful of these beans left in the shop to roast, so don't delay your order if you will be disappointed once it's gone!

Our first Kenya of the year is also nearing the bottom of the bag. I love Kenya coffees and look forward to the season moving into full swing. It's not unusual to see auction lot Kenya coffee from a different grower top the list of available recommendations each month in season. Having the help of an import house that's sensitive to my relentless quest for coffee quality makes buying coffees each month one of the most pleasant yet mysterious parts of my job!

Thanks as always for your patronage and support. Our summers in Bisbee are a wonderful change of pace from the "in season" when the streets are filled with visitors from around the country. If you're traveling through Bisbee this time of year, be sure to give me a call and I'll be waiting in the shop with hot espresso and the air conditioner running full blast to celebrate your arrival!
