Seth's shop News

Monday morning was the first official "day after" closing the shop for vacation, and yes, it was a madhouse of activity. I'm happy to report that fully 99% of the coffees ordered over my leave of absence where roasted and shipped by the time the post office closed on Monday. I made the green bean order for this month while on Cape Cod, so we could receive fresh green bean this week. Let's hear it for cell phones!

PS: Thanks to everyone who wrote very nice Emails encouraging me to enjoy my vacation. You are all wonderful and this newsletter is dedicated to YOU!

WHERE'S THE DECAF?

For a week before closing, my supply of Ethiopian Decaf was held up in US Customs - for a short time I was shaking out the bottom of the bags from previous lots and sweating bullets - trying not to run out of coffee before I could take delivery of fresh green. I am relieved to report that this years crop of Royal Select Ethiopian Water Process Decaf has arrived in the shop. If you had any doubts or dissatisfaction with your decaf delivered in the last weeks of June, please email me with your comments and I will roast and ship replacement Decaf free of charge.

NEW GREEN BEANS RECEIVED 7/13/2005

Costa Rican Monte Crisol
Our very favorite Costa Rican coffee is distinctly crisp, clean and refreshing, with just a hint of citrus - A great Costa that "snaps" with flavor then leaves the palette clean. This is no ordinary coffee!

Ethiopian Certified Organic Natural Sidamo:
This sweet soft coffee from Sidamo is my choice of African sweeties for the month - Softer than a Harar, the sidamo is wonderfully fruity and floral.

Guatemala Antigua Genuina:
My importers choice for Guatemala this month comes from Antigua and replaces our popular Guatemalan from Huehuetanango. This coffee has a wonderful subtle medium body that comes on slowly, distinctly chocolate flavors and finishes with a sweet aftertaste. This is your choice of beans for that summer Iced coffee!

Kenya AA Ibutiti:
Our first Kenya coffee of the new year, There are 300 lbs. only and when it's gone, it's gone! This Kenya has a thick sweet Carmel flavor, distinctly Kenya.

El Salvador Certified Organic from the Pipil Co-op:
This coffee replaces our very earthy and dirty Salvador Santa Rita with a slightly more delicate coffee. Still the classic Salvador taste, dry and peppery, this coffee offers a very refined flavor, milder yet also more complex. I taste a good dark dry finish with a hint of cinnamon.

COFFEES IN SHORT SUPPLY:
Two coffees in the shop we have offered since late December are going to sell out soon: These coffees are so impressive and memorable. We are down to the last 300lbs of the following:

New Guinea Kimel X
Sweet, sharp and shockingly Indonesian, there's no mistaking this earthy coffee for any other indo - if you love this coffee, be sure to order your bags within the next 30-60 days

TIMOR Certified Organic MAUBESSE
Clean, dry modern processed certified organic coffee from East Timor. This is only the second year of commercial production for this Indonesian Island, and the taste is clean earthy and almost smoky - surprisingly good - that's why I set aside 12 bags in December - and have enjoyed every roast. We have 300 lbs. left of this fine coffee to roast for your orders.

Thanks again to everyone for giving me a week off, and all the wonderful email I received on my way out of town. I can feel the love!
